Dr. Adrienne Allen

Nothing has been more important this past year than COVID & HEALTH. Let’s emerge stronger than before. On the Belmont Board of Health I would promote:

  • INCLUSIVE health programs

  • RELEVANT and ongoing monitoring of community health

  • policies with EQUITY and ENVIRONMENT at the forefront

I am a primary care doctor, mother of 3 boys and the medical director of a large outpatient healthcare organization. For the past year I have lead our COVID-19 response setting up testing sites, vaccine clinics and safe care guidelines. My patients have taught me the importance of the community- individual health relationship. In my daily work, I frame questions and analyze data to improve the health of patients. Using that same skill set, I will help the board leverage data to address our town’s most pressing health concerns. Since 2019, I have served on Belmont’s Energy Committee and have a good understanding of our town’s governance structure.

Priorities:

COVID-19

Having led my organization’s COVID-19 response, I have the experience to guide Belmont’s evolving COVID-19 planning. As COVID-19 continues to evolve, the board should serve an essential role guiding residents, schools and businesses with the most up to date science and resources.

Health Effects of Racism

Our town has witnessed the terrible health outcomes related to racism. We have learned how policies that seem equal are not often equitable. Reviewing programs and policies with a lens of equity is a top priority.

Climate Change

Climate change is the greatest threat to health, worsening air pollution, increasing extreme heat events, and spreading mosquito and tick-borne illnesses. Developing resources for residents to reduce risk and lessen effects of climate change is critical.
